People often take it with other psychedelic drugs, increasing the probability of addiction and even death. Like with most psychedelic drugs, quitting 2C-B cold turkey can be challenging. In a similar manner to other NSPs and some psychedelics, the human pharmacokinetics of 2C-B has not yet been fully resolved. Analysis of oral fluid samples by LC–MS/MS concentrations ranged from 1.43 to 7.73 ng/ml, with an average peak concentration of 4.19 ng/ml observed between 1 and 3 h after administration. However, results of 2C-B pharmacokinetics indicate that 2C-B can be detected in oral fluid at very low concentrations up to 16–24 h after self-administration. Unfortunately, the interpretation of 2C-B concentrations in oral fluid is extremely difficult without data from plasma (not performed in this study neither in any study involving humans). By contrast, collection of oral fluid is easy and non-invasive, and was the method selected to obtain pharmacokinetic data in this study. Anecdotally, in two subjects involved in a road accident, 2C-B has been identified in blood at concentrations of 1.6 and 14 ng/ml together with amphetamine (Busardò et al., 2017).

1. Participants
The CNS stimulant and psychedelic effects cause a variety of physical and psychological reactions which may cause harm to some users. The easiest way to avoid risk factors is to not take the drug, though if you are planning on taking the substance there are some steps to consider in order to avoid negative reactions. The length of time 2C drugs remain in a person’s system can vary depending on age, gender, body mass, and drug abuse history. The onset of a 10-25mg dose (if snorted) will be near instantaneous and the psychedelic action can last for up to 12 hours. 2C drugs became a popular alternative for MDMA users when the drug was made illegal in 1984. In the US today, 2C-B and other variants are classed as Schedule I substances by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) under the Controlled Substances Act.
But nasal ingestion is also done, although many people warn that it is extremely painful—more so than with other substances. However, if you do choose to ingest nasally, doses should be significantly smaller because it comes on faster and stronger, and will also be shorter-lasting. Horror stories in sensationalist media have portrayed 2C-B as a deadly, threatening drug.[50][51] And while its toxicity profile has yet to be fully established, such reports are dubious, to say the least. Aside from the fact that aggression and violence are rarely mentioned in users’ reports, 2C-B is difficult to detect in the body. So unless the compound is confirmed in a lab, it’s fair to assume that other, lesser-known drugs are responsible.
This substance is largely metabolized by an enzyme called monoamine oxidase (MAO) [2]. It’s the main enzyme responsible for breaking down neurotransmitters, including dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine. People taking MAO inhibitor medications (a type of antidepressant) may have a hard time metabolizing 2C-B — which could lead to side effects. With that said, there is a serious lack of research available on the safety of 2C-B. Due to the heavily restricted status of this substance, it’s unlikely we’re going to see this research anytime in the near future.
The possibility of 2C-B to stimulate sensuality and sexuality has been suggested [22]. To date, no fatalities due to overdose have been attributed, and only one case of psychosis [23] and one of cerebral vasculopathy have been described [24], both of which developed 48 hours after ingestion. Nevertheless, in neither of the cases was the presence and/or exclusivity of 2C-B confirmed in the biological samples. In spite of the low rate alcohol and anxiety of accidents related to this substance there exist data advising of intersubject variations regarding susceptibility to 2C-B toxicity [25]. Descriptions of severe medical and psychiatric reactions after the use of substances with similar profiles suggest precaution in its use [16, 26]. Vital signs (heart rate and blood pressure) were measured with an automatic Omron monitor at baseline, peak effects (1.5 h), and 6 h after dose.
Whilst 2C-B modifies visual perception, it has been reported to have limited efficacy as a 5-HT-2A receptor partial agonist, the usual mechanism of hallucinogenic phenylethylamines [13–15]. The other research, however, has suggested that it acts as a 5-HT-2A receptor antagonist [15] and a partial agonist of 5-HT-2C receptors [11, 15]. It is of interest that some other 2C-derivatives, such as 2C-B-FLY and 25B-NBOMe, have been recently introduced on the drug market and present strong hallucinogenic properties. Like MDMA and 2C-B, 2C-B-FLY and related benzofuran compounds inhibit noradrenaline and serotonin uptake more than dopamine uptake; in addition, they are partial 5-HT-2A and 5-HT-2b receptor agonists.

2C-B oral fluid concentrations increased quickly after 2C-B ingestion, reaching a peak (tmax) 1 h after self-administration (Figure Figure1B1B). Concentrations decreased rapidly from 2 to 6 h after ingestion and could be detected in oral fluid up to 24 h in half of the volunteers. Cmax reached was 4.19 ± 1.86 ng/ml and AUC from 0 to 24 h was 19.54 ± 4.72 ng × h/ml. 2C-B elimination half-life (t1/2) in oral fluid was 2.48 ± 3.20 h.
As previously postulated for other psychedelics, it is possible that euphoria may also be an essential component of the psychedelic experience after 2C-B use (Bouso et al., 2016). Interesting, 2C-B also resulted in increases in the LSD subscale and somatic VAS scales (drowsiness, dizziness, confusion). Despite the coexistence of dysphoric-somatic effects, the induced well-being and pleasant effects were clearly more important as reflected by the increases in rating scores. zoom meetings protecting anonymity In contrast, fear and visual hallucinations were not experienced, and sedation was unremarkable.
